The Nogojiwanong Friendship Centre (NFC) is an Indigenous not-for-profit, culture and community-based organization mandated to serve the needs of urban Indigenous people in the City of Peterborough and the surrounding area. The NFC is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of Program/Human Resource Manager (herein referred to as Manager).
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The Manager is responsible for the development, coordination, management, and continuity of the organization’s various programs and services. The Manager is also required to support staff and provide guidance and leadership to ensure the successful facilitation of programs and services. The Manager will oversee the management of human resources, including personnel recruitment, hiring, evaluation, professional development, disciplinary actions, and more.
- Post-Secondary education in business administration; human resource management; or related field; and
- Three years minimum experience working in human resource management and/or program management, preferably within a non-profit, charitable, community-based, Indigenous organization;
OR combination of education and experience deemed acceptable by the Hiring Committee.
- Excellent understanding of, and demonstrated skills in, human resource and program management and organizational leadership;
- Knowledge of the Friendship Centre Movement and Indigenous culture;
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, and problem-solving skills;
- Able to make sound business decisions and provide evidence-based recommendations to senior management;
- Working knowledge of current applicable legislation (ie. Employment Standards Act), practices, standards and policies;
- Experience working in program design, planning, implementation and evaluation; program reporting and accountability; proposal and grant writing;
- Must have presentation and facilitation experience, and strong interpersonal and communication skills;
- Sound leadership and teambuilding skills, building positive working relationships with staff and management;
- Computer literacy, including working skills with Microsoft Professional and web-based data collection applications;
- Must have the ability to work in a busy office environment with frequent interruptions; work independently and as a team, with minimal supervision;
- Must have a valid driver’s license, a reliable car and be willing to travel as required;
- Indigenous heritage a preference (ref: Aboriginal Employment Preference Policy); and,
- A satisfactory Criminal Reference Check (CPIC) with a Vulnerable Sector Search (VSS) will be a condition of the employment offer.

Pay: $60,000.00-$64,000.00 per year
