The CRC will ensure that Indigenous cultural knowledge is integrated into Northumberland County’s child care centres/agencies, EarlyON centres, and early years programs. The CRC will ensure that appropriate cultural practices are provided, while promoting healing and reconciliation for urban Indigenous children, youth and families.
The CRC will act as a cultural resource and support; develop culture-based work plans that best support program and service design and provision; and, work with local child care centres/agencies and early years programs within Northumberland County to promote cultural competency and awareness. To support the work, the CRC will create and maintain a trusted Traditional Knowledge Keeper/Elder resource directory and create and/or maintain organizational cultural competency, safety & cultural sustainability.
